'The crucifix is everything for the missionary. It is his strength, his consolation, his model, his courage, his success! The Crucifix is the explanation of the Missionary, and without it, there is not even the idea of the missionary.'
Blessed Paulo Manna
This year sees the 150th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Paul Manna, founder of the Pontifical Missionary Union. Serious illness prevented Father Paolo from remaining on mission himself but he was inspired by God to animate clergy around the world and to foster a missionary zeal among the faithful.
Missio Scotland is the Scottish branch of the Pontifical Mission Societies and is the official mission aid agency of the Catholic Church. We are continuing the mission of Jesus Christ in the world by reaching out, giving life and calling all people in the world to faith, justice and love.
