World Mission Sunday is a day set aside for the Catholic Church throughout the world to publicly renew its commitment to the missionary movement. It is a day when our Holy Father appeals to us all for both spiritual and financial support for overseas missionaries.
This year’s celebration will take place on Sunday, 24th October 2021.
Every parish, school and community is invited to join this special event.

Missio Scotland's focus for this year's Mission Sunday falls on Oceania. The funds raised from your donations will help fund projects in both Fiji and Papa New New Guinea.
Fiji has suffered greatly as a result of climate change with regular cyclones casing death and destruction across the country. In the midst of the chaos, the young people of Fiji are trying their hardest to regrow the Faith in the country.

Like Fiji, Papa New Guinea is also subject to both social and environmental crises. The resulting societal problems can often lead to an increase in violence and poverty. Education is essential in addressing these issues.
Following in the footsteps of Blessed Peter To Rot, Sister Mary Claude Gadd has developed various child protection programmes and this year, Missio Scotland is proud to give her our support.
