On Easter Sunday in 2019, the peace was shattered by gruesome bombings that killed at least 250 people in three Sri Lankan churches.

In the church grounds at Katuwapitiya, Ngombo, more than 60 of those Catholics killed in the bombings are buried in a mass grave.

An education fund has been set up to financially assist the children who lost their parents in the bombings.

​A care fund has also been established to assist those who were left injured, disabled and traumatised by the attacks.
